Community Chest raises funds on a yearly basis to meet the needs of the social service programmes that we support. As fund-raising and other operating costs are covered mainly by Tote Board and Singapore Pools (Private) Limited, every dollar raised by Community Chest will be made available to social service programmes under its care.

Your continued support to Community Chest has helped to nurture children and youths to succeed, dignify the lives of the elderly, keep families together and help people with disabilities lead independent lives.

Here are just 4 of the 320,000* people who have benefitted from critical social service programmes supported by Community Chest in FY2010.

SHARE PROGRAMME:
Reaching Out to Sectors to Attract
SHARE Donors

SHARE is a monthly workplace giving programme that encourages companies and employees to make a collective effort in helping the less fortunate through monthly contributions to Community Chest.

Currently, it relies on more than 210,000 corporate and individual donors to generate a steady source of income to help fund the programmes supported by Community Chest.

Community Chest launched the second sector-wide campaign, “Stockbrokers with a Heart”, on 28 January 2011 to raise funds for the needy through SHARE. The campaign was strongly supported by the Securities Association of Singapore. Nine member firms pledged their support for SHARE by donating a total of $230,000 to Community Chest to launch the campaign.

“Stockbrokers with a Heart” was a follow-up to the first sector-driven campaign, “Hoteliers with A Heart”, which was launched on 16 June 2010 to reach out to employers and staff in the hotel sector. Seven new hotels have come on board the SHARE programme as a result of this campaign, with 1,000 new SHARE donors.

Over 70 fund-raising events were organised by Community Chest and our corporate partners in FY 2010. Besides raising much needed funds, they have also helped to increase public awareness of the needs of our community. We received overwhelming support from corporations, foundations and individual donors during the events.
